By | Toch Sleepsense | No Comments

Tochtech Technologies and Laurel Place Care Centre in Surrey are about to embark on a pilot program of Tochtech’s latest Toch Sleepsense night safety bed sensor. Laurel Place, a leading seniors’ care accommodation provider of Long term care, BSTN and Convalescent Care services and a member of the Park Place family, will be piloting this new technology in their BSTN unit. Both Tochtech and Laurel Place management believe that this latest technology can help increase safety for high risk residents through its fall prevention and emergency notification capabilities. “We are always looking for innovative technologies to enhance the safety of our residents, and we are keen to pilot this new technology” said Liezel Hippsley, Site Leader at Laurel Place Care Centre.

“The objective of the pilot is for Laurel Place staff and management to understand how Sleepsense can be effectively integrated with their current delivery model of care so as to enhance the safety of the residents and at the same time better support their staff. Tochtech is also looking for feedback to further improve our technology, and pilot programs are an excellent way of working with the community. ” said Jessica Yang, CEO of Tochtech.

Placed under the frame of the bed, Sleepsense is able to detect body movement, in and out of bed status and vital signs (heart and breathing rate). Real time alerts are then sent directly to caregivers’ smartphones or a nurse call system when a health or safety risk is identified. Sleepsense ensures care staff are constantly updated on the status of residents without having to physically check on them, and alerted on residents most in need of assistance. This new technology offers residents increased safety, especially high risk residents in Assisted Living and Long Term Care. Toch Sleepsense was the recent winner the 2020 AGE-WELL National Impact Challenge Competition. The Toch Sleepsense pilot program is also being launched at Fleetwood Place in Surrey and Chalmers Lodge in Vancouver.

Tochtech Technologies is pleased to announce it has signed an exclusive marketplace partnership with Australian HSC Technology Group Limited(ASX:HSC) for sale and distribution of Toch Sleepsense, Tochtech’s award-winning sleep safety and monitoring technology.

HSC Technology Group is a Software as a Service (SaaS) data analytics company that uses next generation Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to deliver decision-making insights that improve people’s safety, independence, autonomy and most importantly improve their lives.

“We are delighted to add an innovative piece of IoT technology such as Tochtech’s Sleepsense to the company’s healthcare suite,” Graham Russell said.

“The device will be invaluable for the aged care industry as it alerts caregivers when a resident experiences a health risk, such as an abnormal heart or breathing rate during sleep, meaning staff will be able to respond quicker and provide care based on real-time information.

“It will also be ideal as a smart home peripheral as it includes a sleep analysis feature and, promotes and encourages good sleep habits to benefit the health and wellbeing of your children and family.”
